The Best Spindle Liners
Thursday, June 23, 2016

We have been designing and manufacturing spindle liners for more than 25 years. During that time we've been able to gather information on almost every lathe make and model, making us experts in the industry. We know that when you order a spindle liner, you don't want to have to wait and you want it to fit the first time. We've manufactured more than 100,000 spindle liners and have learned how to make the best liners possible. Sized perfectly, straightened to within 0.005" TIR, size and part number permanently engraved, easy out system included as well as all the mounting hardware.

A Spindle Liner (also referred to as filler tubes, reduction tubes, master liners or sleeves) is designed to match the interior diameter of a CNC Lathe Spindle to the Outer Diameter of a bar. It makes a big hole smaller, and helps to keep the barstock on center, allowing faster machining speeds and closer machine tolerances. It also reduces wear and tear on machines, as well as reducing noise pollution inside your shop.   Common materials are steel and urethane, as well as composites. Steel spindle liners can easily be made to increase length capacity of the lathe, meaning small companies can take on larger jobs, and save on precious inside space.

At high speeds, bars have a tendency to wobble. This makes lines, scratches, and ribs in the stock that will not look good in the finished product. Also, the increased precision and stability make for less waste, essential in these tight economic times. One metal shop calculated a loss of $34,000 in metal chips alone, due to imperfect cuts! In addition to this, the longer lathes means longer bars, which means fewer cuts and fewer remnants. When you factor in the wear on the machines, the decrease in noise, and the ability to lengthen spindles, spindle liners are a simple and essential way to heighten the productivity of your shop, giving you the edge over your competition.
